There is plenty to do in and around Margate, a historic curiously eccentric town with a range of award winning blue flag beaches.
It has unqiue attractions such as the famed Shell Grotto and the Powell Cotton Museum. There are some quality places to eat and  a range of eclectic shops in the Old Town in which to while away the afternoon.
The Isle of Thanet is famous for its microclimate and is one of the sunniest areas in the country. Turner's sunsets were captured in Margate for a reason.
Activities include walking along wild and natural sandy beaches, kite surfung, cycling, golf, and horse riding. Margate is also an ideal base to explore the wider Kent area. Nearby towns include Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal, Whitstable and Canterbury.
The Reading Rooms is located in Hawley Square in Margate's old town, 10 minutes walk from the station and 5 minutes from the beach and the historic Old Town Quarter.
